Snow, snow, snow!
It's snowing like crazy here all the sudden. I guess it had to happen some day soon. I hate winter.

I also hate winter, especially now that I have two kids who hate snowsuits who take approximately an hour to bitch and gripe their way into the car every time we want to leave the house.

But despite the fact that winter here lasts six months and is annoying and hellish...doesn't the first snow make you feel kind of excited still? It is snowing here today for the second time -- it also snowed last Thursday. That day I went over to see my friend Krista and we both talked about how, despite the fact that winter sucks, the first few snows always seem so beautiful and peaceful.

I guess it's pretty easy to forget the slush and grime and horror of hathead!

No, I find nothing magical in the first snowflakes. It just reminds me that summer is way over and is a long, long way away again. And that we have many cold, dark days ahead.

During mid-winter I sometimes manage to enjoy the snow. I like it when it snows a lot overnight and I wake up to snow-covered trees all undisturbed and beautiful. And I like the way the snow mutes sounds. But, I don't think I'll ever love the first snow.

When I was a kid it was different since any amount of snow = school was closed. That only happened about once or twice a year, though.

You, me and [info]capnplanet need to pool our money and buy a tropical island.

I see that they're saying it will be clear on Monday. Looks like our CN Tower plans will be a go. Yay!

Name the island and I'm there

An island sounds great (as long as it's not Toronto Island or Baffin Island). I think I was built for warm weather. When we were in Las Vegas in July/August I thought it was great, it was super hot, but I'd much rather be too hot than too cold.

CN Tower should be fun. If it's as clear as it was today, we should easily see Niagara Falls and Rochester from up there (I could see them from my 19th floor windows today).
